Shanghai Airport Transfer: PVG or SHA to the City
Use the complete place name for Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA), check the live operator route, and save one simple arrival backup before travel.
Start with the exact name shown on the paid booking, ticket, or official reservation. Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA) are separate places and may need different routes. Check the current operator information for your date, then save the hotel address and one staffed fallback offline.
Separate Pudong Airport from the Hongqiao complex
PVG is the Pudong airport journey. SHA belongs to the Hongqiao transport complex, where the airport and railway station are adjacent but still different destinations. Match the airport and terminal before comparing the full hotel route.

Confirm PVG or SHA and the terminal
Use the live flight ticket. If it says SHA, keep the airport terminal separate from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station inside the same transport complex.

Compare the complete route, not the first segment
From PVG or SHA, check every transfer through to the hotel and make sure the final connection still works at the landing time. Do not choose a route only because its airport segment is fast.

Save the correct airport road backup
Keep the Shanghai hotel name and address in Chinese with the airport code and terminal. If the public route fails, use the signed taxi queue at that exact airport.
Compare the workable routes
Compare the complete Pudong route
Check the current Airport Link, metro, bus, maglev connection, or taxi route through to the hotel. Do not choose from the first segment alone.
Use the Hongqiao airport terminal on the ticket
Keep Hongqiao Airport separate from Hongqiao Railway Station, then follow the current local route from the correct terminal.
Protect the final hotel handoff
When the last useful connection or luggage makes the public route impractical, use the signed airport taxi queue and the complete Chinese hotel address.
Save the complete English and Chinese names
Copy the live booking or operator wording. A city name alone is not a station, airport, terminal, entrance, or hotel address.
Shanghai Pudong International Airport
上海浦东国际机场PVG. Match the terminal and live Airport Link, metro, bus, or taxi route.
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport
上海虹桥国际机场SHA. Do not confuse the airport with the adjacent railway station.
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station
上海虹桥站A railway station, not an airport terminal.
If the first plan fails
The route assumes PVG but the ticket says SHA
Rebuild the journey from the correct airport and terminal. Pudong and Hongqiao instructions cannot be repaired by swapping only the airport name.
You arrive at Hongqiao Railway Station instead of the airport terminal
Follow current Hongqiao signs or ask staff for the named terminal. Do not treat the connected buildings as one pickup point.
The airport segment runs but the final metro connection ends
Check the whole chain before boarding. Use the signed taxi queue when the final transfer or walk no longer works.
Store PVG or SHA with the terminal, plus the Shanghai hotel name and address in Chinese. If the complete public route fails, use the signed taxi queue at that exact airport rather than following an unsolicited ride.
